NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has sent a memo to all 32 teams threatening "significant discipline" to anyone caught leaking confidential information gathered on draft prospects to the public.
The Associated Press obtained the memo, which was sent on Wednesday night after reports that LSU defensive back Morris Claiborne allegedly scored poorly on the Wonderlic test. The exam is used by NFL teams to try to gauge a prospect's intelligence, problem-solving ability and cognitive skills. League rules prohibit officials from disclosing the results, but scores have routinely been leaked for years, both of the very poor and very high variety. I agree with Goodell to an extent. There's no reason for anyone to know how well or poorly an individual did on a particular exam. Now, I don't think there needs to be harsh punishment for future offenders as I'm sure it's not the executives or even coaches, etc. who are leaking the information. It's probably folks who work in the organization who want to feel important and relevant who take sensitive information and leak it to the media so they can blow it out of proportion.
What does the Wunderlic exam really say about an individual? If you may have a particular disability in answering questions in the written form test anxiety with tests like the Wunderlic exam then you're not going to score well. I'm sure that's why most teams don't use that as their sole tool to analyze the intelligence and character of the individuals they are dealing with. |

If two QBs are equal in every other aspect and one scores 30 and the the other scores a 10, who do you take? |

At first sight, I take the higher score. However, I've known people who could regurgitate any answer to any question for any type of exam, but when it came to sitting down and actually taking the exam they locked up and couldn't do it. Any teacher worth his/her weight in salt will tell you you need to spend some time with the person to find his/her true colors. He's like a 2nd father to Steve McNair's kids. |
