Agreed although I was pissed this morning at Ross Tucker ON NFL Radio, Now i dont think Alex Smith is an elite QB but Ross was running his mouth how it makes no sense to sign Alex Smith in Miami when they have Matt Moore and Smith is really no better than Moore. |

Broncos’ Ryan Clady: Peyton Manning is just better than Tim Tebow
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 19, 2012, 12:32 PM EDT AP When the news broke that Peyton Manning is on the way to Denver and Tim Tebow is on the way out, Broncos left tackle Ryan Clady offered a very simple explanation of the reason for the Broncos’ change at quarterback. “At the end of the day, Peyton Manning is just better than Tim Tebow,” Clady told ESPN’s Josina Anderson. When the news broke that Manning had chosen the Broncos, Clady was succinct on Twitter, writing simply, “Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Broncos linebacker Von Miller offered a similarly pro-Peyton sentiment. “I love Tim Tebow on and off the field — he is a great teammate,” Miller told Anderson. “But we can learn a lot more from Peyton Manning because he’s been to Super Bowls, he’s a four-time MVP.” So there’s no doubt that in the Broncos’ locker room, this is welcome news. Tebow was the man who led them to the playoffs last year, but Manning is the man they want leading them going forward. |

Manning seems to me like Dwight Howard. Instead of going to somewhere to win titles, they go or in Howards case stay. If Manning goes to the 49ers they are the favorite next year and if Howard goes to say the Bulls they are the favorite. Sometimes I just dont get it. |

Hey Lem, check this out.
Alex Smith, Dolphins have had more contract talks today Posted by Evan Silva on March 19, 2012, 3:52 PM EDT Getty Images Both SI.com’s Peter King and Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald are reporting that free agent quarterback Alex Smith has been in contract negotiations with the Dolphins on Monday. King heard that Smith is “very serious” about the possibility of playing for the Dolphins. Per Salguero, Smith has told folks he’d strongly consider joining the Fins “under the right circumstances.” In other words, on the grounds that the Dolphins fulfill Smith’s contract demands. On Sunday night, Mike Klis of the Denver Post reported that the Dolphins had already begun monetary talks with Smith, and a deal could enter the $8 million-per-season range on a multi-year contract. Smith initially had a three-year, $24 million deal on the table with the 49ers. Whether that remains the case is unknown, but it’s pretty clear Miami is willing to meet the annual average originally proposed by San Francisco. And after whiffing on Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn, the quarterback-needy Dolphins are taking an aggressive approach. |

Can I just say Im suprisingly overwhelmed at the modest contract Flynn got? I was expecting him to get more around the ballpark of Cassel. Not quite Cassell but 40ish.. No tag for Flynn, no $14 mil jumping off point. Which underscores why it was a good decision not to tag him--His market didn't develop until Manning eliminated destinations, and his top two suitors where deeply involved with him. |

Cassel's contract was based off the franchise tag money. |

Everyone knew how Elway felt. I think he handled it pretty well. |

Only way that Elway gets a pass on this is if he lets Tebow choose where he goes. The way he's treated his QB this entire time is completely two faced. But, Tebow was becoming more popular in Denver than Elway was... so time to ax him. Elway has to make football decisions AND play the PR game, and he did both well. He should trade Tebow to where ever he gets the best return. Tebow can put God in control of his destiny once he becomes a free agent like everyone else. Letting Tebow choose his destination is a bad football move. And Elway's obligation is to the Broncos, not Tebow. |

Merril Hoge kicks Tim Tebow while he’s down: “He has no clue”
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 19, 2012, 6:03 PM EDT Getty Images Merril Hoge, the former NFL fullback who has become an analyst on ESPN’s Matchup show, has long been a harsh critic of Tim Tebow. And on the day that Peyton Manning’s arrival put Tebow on the trading block in Denver, Hoge didn’t hold back in kicking Tebow while he’s down. ESPN’s PR department distributed a string of quotes from the Worldwide Leader’s army of NFL commentators on Monday, and for the most part the quotes were bland statements about Manning taking command of the Denver offense and making everyone around him better. But the last quote came from Hoge, and it was an evisceration of Tebow. Plenty of analysts have questioned Tebow’s arm, but Hoge questions Tebow’s mind. According to Hoge, Tebow is clueless when it comes to understanding how to run an NFL offense, and lacks the brainpower to read an NFL defense. “The more I studied him in an NFL setting, the more disturbed I was that he has no clue what he’s looking at,” Hoge said of Tebow. “His IQ as a football player is not very good. That is why they have to come down and make it some of a college-form system that he’s comfortable with in Florida. He can’t execute, from a cerebral aspect, a pro-style system.” In other words, Hoge thinks that if the projections of the Broncos only getting a fifth-round pick for Tebow turn out to be true, the Broncos would be getting a steal. |
