I found a site that lists the supposed REMAINING 2011 cap room available for each team.
They listed ProFootballTalk and Mike Florio as a source. Florio listed no one as a source, which means the source is probably his ass. I then read a tweet from Adam Shefter who listed only the teams with the most and the teams with the least Available cap space. So Florio's Ass-produced numbers are listed next to Shefter's Crazy HOLY-SHIT! numbers in brackets. Either way, you get a picture of who is even capable actually trying to pay Mario Williams or Courtland Finnegan ridiculous numbers. First we eliminate 15 teams who either have no space, have too many of their own free agents, or are traditionally not players in free agency. Jets: $8.39 million (Even) Ravens: $6.18 million Packers: $5.48 million Saints: $4.22 million Rams: $3.5 million Raiders: $3.23 million (11 Over) Panthers: $2.8 million (9 Over) Colts: $2.5 million Chargers: $2.1 million Vikings: $1.95 million Lions: $1.47 million Texans: $1.08 million Giants: $1.06 million (9 over) Falcons: $747,000 Steelers: $506,000 (11 over) So we are left with 17 teams with enough space to make a move or two. Keep in Mind that the Browns, Bengals, and Patriots each have two first rounders to sign. Then we eliminate the teams who either are snake-bit [Eagles] or have key restricted FAs [Eagles], or may need to franchise a key player [Patriots, Eagles, Bears]. These teams are going to either going to have to say goodbye to some key players [Eagles and Cullen Jenkins] or not be players at all. Teams like Dolphins or Titans or even the Eagles could still bring in a bargain or two, but they won't be the ones making a big splash. Eagles: $11.01 million Dolphins: $9.05 million Browns: $8.98 million Titans: $8.11 million Bears: $7.74 million Cardinals: $7.04 million Patriots: $6.66 million So 10 Teams MAX will be th ones bidding on the free agents like Williams and Colston and Carl Nicks, and Cliff Avril. Teams like the Bucs and Chiefs could go nuts. The Broncos could add a WR or 2. So could the Redskins. The Jaggedwires will have challenge getting players to want to play there, but $$$ should clear that up. Bengals definitely could become REAL contenders since they have 2 first rounders AND loads of cap space. Jaguars: $31.66 million Broncos:$27.88 million (49) Buccaneers: $25.05 million (67) Chiefs: $24.01 million (62) Seahawks: $21.27 million Bills: $19.29 million Bengals: $17.59 million (60) Cowboys: $17.14 million 49ers: $16.87 million Redskins: $13.6 million (49) |
