This one was just dumb. I was laughing my ass off at Norv Turner for challenging it and getting ready to post a "Norv Turner sucks" thread. Then the dumb ass refs overturn the play on the field.

I don't think that was as obvious as you are making it, the contact came right at the same moment he was going to start forward with his arm. It was at the same time, his hand was empty when it did finally did come forward. The contact can make him fumble the ball forward, doesn't mean his arm was going forward before the contact. That could have gone either way, the call on gates was Ticky tack, so was the holding call a few plays later.

Given the distance the ball went, very unlikely. This is all ignoring the fact that the evidence had to be conclusive to overturn the ruling on the field. All in all, it was a terrible overturning of the ruling on the field.

But yes -- the call isn't even close to as bad as the call the refs made on that "backward pass" in the Eagles game.
