Default Debating New York's 2014 Super Bowl bid
I love the idea of a cold weather Super Bowl. They should have 1/4 played in cold weather sites outside.

I'd love hearing all the media members cry about it. They hate visiting a cold weather city in the first place. it would be even worse if they played outside

I think it would be awesome for the nostalgia of it but with any luck it will be two dome passing teams and there will be 3 ft of snow out there and the game will end up 3-2.

Wouldn't bother me at all.

NY/NJ has it down cold as XLVIII host

http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/n...ory?id=5219486

If you build it, they will come -- wearing winter coats. The New Meadowlands Stadium, the $1.6 billion jewel co-owned by the New York Giants and Jets, will host the 2014 Super Bowl, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced Tuesday afternoon at the league's spring meeting.

Good for them. Who cares if two teams have to play outside? That's what football is supposed to be, right?

And it isn't like we are talking about it always being frigid there. I heard on the radio this morning that the average temp on the date the Super Bowl was held this year is like 50 degrees. Obviously it could be much colder, but 50 degrees is nothing.

Exactly.

But that does bring up a question....if the Vikes get a new stadium, do you want it to be a dome?

Not if they can get a Super Bowl without one. I'm fine sitting outside.

The only reason I pushed at least a retractable roof before was because they could probably get a Super Bowl with one...and other events.

But if they want to go roofless, I'm all about it. I ain't skerred.

But, but, but they are gonna play inside the stadium... in the outside air.

I dont care one whit whether its outside in NY or inside in AZ or in an underground bunker in Berlin.

This is nothing more than the NFL on another HUGE cash grab. Anyone think that a Super Bowl would ever be played in the shrine to Professional football, Lambeau Field? Or Cleveland? Or Cincinnati?

Not a snowball's chance in hell.

I hope the weather is so brutally bad that the stadium is half empty.

The reason it wont ever be in Lambeau is that Green Bay doesnt have the infrastructure to support the event. Especially after the disaster that Jacksonville turned out to be.

But this should open the door for Chicago.

The first Superbowl was played in front of an nearly empty stadium

The game is being played in Jersey, not PA.

It should open the door for a lot of other stadiums. Tough to make the argument to the owners in New England or Seattle or Denver or Chicago, etc. that they can't have the Super Bowl there after they've now broken the cold weather rule.

I would love a Super Bowl in Green Bay, but it can't happen for the reason you state. They don't have enough hotel rooms by a factor of at least 10 even if you count the rooms in Appleton and other surrounding areas.

Believe it or not, I would like the concept as well.
