They made a big deal about hiring an ex ref to talk about calls, and then did not feature him in the MOST controversial call in the Bears vs. Lions game.

Yeah, they did. They brought him in once the booth called for the review, and Pereira laid out the rule and said it wasn't going to be overturned based on that interpretation.
