Default Warner Expected to Announce Retirement Friday
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/pla...rt=NFL&id=1256

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Cardinals have scheduled a Friday press conference to address Kurt Warner's future.
According to Schefter, "all signs point" toward Warner hanging 'em up. His retirement would leave Matt Leinart as the Cardinals' only quarterback under contract for 2010; third-stringer Brian St. Pierre is a free agent. Warner, who turns 39 in June, finished the 2009 season with a 66.1 completion rate, 26:14 TD-to-INT ratio, and 3,753 passing yards. He indicated to ESPN's Rick Reilly last week that playing football had lost its fun.

I think football lost all it's fun when he got rocked in his last game.

Was hoping he would come back, but I understand the decision.

He nearly got knocked out of his last game, and has had concussion issues in the past.

I can see that being a motivating factor in his decision.

Absolutely. Arizona is one of 3 or 4 good spots for McNabb to land.

I get the medical side of it and thats fine but to flat out say playing pro football and receiving all the perks that go along with it is not fun...

Cmon...

These guys do something most boys grow up dreaming about. Do it as long as you can.

True. But you have to admit he gave you a good season this year.

'XPN was playing Zeppelin (not a fan) so I mosied on over to Tiuesdays w/ SalPal on "The Fan" and he says it is "Probable" that McNabb will be offered to either/or Minn (if "he" does not come back), Arizona, San Fran or Oakland. He seemed pretty sure of that.

I think its more along the lines of being too afraid of getting hit to enjoy playing the game. He's got plenty of money, so I doubt he's worried about that.

i've admitted i was wrong about how he would play this season. i thought he would have a decent season, maybe something like 3,200/24/15. he certainly blew that out of the water.

i was also right about how the season would end. i said we'd win one or two playoffs games before falling short of the super bowl. we didn't bring favre in to win a divisional round game, we brought him here for the big one. season=failed experiment.

The thing though is, a lot of these guys retire, and they can barely walk once their careers are over. They have post concussion symptoms, their knees and back is shot, etc.

I agree with you that I "wish" I could play the game like them, but that's why I can understand premature retirements by the likes of Robert Smith and Barry Sanders.

I'm just speculating, but when Warner says its not fun anymore, my guess is it absolutely has to do with his health, and the amount of time he spends in the training room or a tub of ice.

Isnt that why so many GB fans hate Favre?
