Wow, I hadn't heard about this till now... Dirty play to say the least...

I don't think wesley is a dirty player, or a cheapshot artist(he was a st'er on the bears for a year or two), just a horrible bad lack of judgement. A case of non-thinking. Clearly it was a cheapshot, but i think it was more in the vein of "Wtf did i just do?" type thing. He didn't lay him out and stand on top with the normal "what now bitch?!" pose or anything. Almost like he didn't know what he did, he went looking for the football afterwords.

Fine and penalty and ejection 100% deserved, but i think that should be the end of it.

Maybe i'm wrong, but thats just my take on it.

I've watched that a couple of times - Wesley hits the ground, sees the ball hit, and goes in pursuit towards the sideline. My guess is that he thought the return man was a blocker - he went too high, but I guess that can happen at full speed - then bad things happened.

I agree with the fine and penalty and 1 game suspension (due to the riskiness of the action). But I don't think he was actually TRYING to take out a player.
