Does he expect to get a $40 million contract as a 4th rounder next season?

Crabtree never said he wants to re-drafted. His cousin said they're prepared to sit out the whole year and re-enter the draft. Nothing directly from the horses mouth.

Either way, it's dumb to let your cousin be your mouthpiece. Not to mention think that you should be paid higher than where you were drafted. He hasn't played a down yet, sign a fucking contract and prove it.

Right. He probably would be asking for more money if the Raiders drafted him then the 49ers

Maybe its not him, it could very well be his punk-a$$ agent doing this.

That article is bullshit and Crabtree is right. Everyone was laughing their fucking asses off when Heyward-Bey was taken over Crabtree. And the 49ers were creaming their jeans because they KNOW and BELIEVE that Crabtree is better than Heyward-Bey. So you know what? Fucking pay him more than Heyward-Bey because that's what he deserves.

Perceived value.

The fact of the matter is, Heyward-Bay got paid what he did because he was the seventh pick in the draft. If he was the tenth pick in the draft (like Crabtree was), he'd get less money. That's how the system works.

There is no system. That's how negotiations usually work. It doesn't mean that's how they always have to work.

Right, but the fact remains that two other teams passed on Crabtree's services, so he obviously isn't worth that much money.

How did this work for Brady Quinn?

What will be hilarious is if Crabtree sits out, and the league hammers out a rookie pay scale that guarantees Crabtree would get less money next year.

Totally different situation. The 49ers can't deny that they were happy as a pig in shit that the Raiders took Heyward-Bey instead of Crabtree (and that there is no way that any team other than Oakland was going to take Heyward-Bey in the top 20 picks).

Crabtree saying he'll sit out is retarded because it's not going to happen...and if it does happen then he truly is retarded. But he has a legitimate argument for being paid more than Heyward-Bey. It's not just about "perception." It is very much about reality.

No, it's about perception. The reality is that (for whatever reason), the Raiders valued Heyward-Bay more than Crabtree. The perception is that everyone had Heyward-Bay buried on their draft boards.
