Plax did this to himself to be sure, but he supposedly started carrying the gun only after the Sean Taylor botched robbery/murder.

Even though he's a dumbass, broke the law, and tried to cover it up, I've seen many people do a lot more and get away with a lot more leniency.

2 years definitely seems harsh to me, but he chose to carry it illegally in the wrong state, and they definitely wanted to make an example of him.

The bigger crime committed here is going to a club with sweatpants on.

And drinking and driving isn't equally (or more) stupid? Stallworth, and the millions of people who drive drunk throughout the country, are just as stupid. More people drink and drive though than the number of people who bring guns out to clubs, which means sympathy.
I'm pretty friggin sure I've never stated drinking and driving isn't stupid.

I had a very, very good friend who died, while driving drunk, and she drove under the back end of a semi.

I also have a very good friend sitting for 25 years because of 3 lives he took while drinking and driving, so the last thing I need is a lecture on how fucking stupid drinking and driving is.

My fucking issue is that people keep trying to tie this to Stallworth's incident.

PLAX wasn't drinking and driving. He was carrying a loaded, un-safetied gun in his fucking sweat pants. Thank fucking god he only shot himself.

Different states, different laws, different circumstances.

And exactly ONE of the guys that people keep trying to compare was AT LEAST willing to take responsibilty for his fucking actions.

Sounds way harsh to me. If it were joe q. citizen and not a high profile NFL player, they most likely would have gotten a slap on the wrist compared to 2 years in the greybar hotel.
Agreed.

That was brought up on a radio show i was listening to today.

This is a time when being a celeb goes against you if you're Plax. Nobody would've noticed John Q Sixpack leaving the club with a bleeding leg.

As far as a gun rights stuff some here wanna debate, yes obey the laws in NY. That said, however, the gun laws in NY are some of the dumbest.

And DC's make NY's look like AZ's.

I am glad he got a harsh sentence, it sends the message.

I agree that maybe it was to harsh in this instance, but, if you are dumb enough to keep a loaded gun in your sweats with the safety off you shouldn't whine about a harsh penalty!

In New York, it's an automatic felony to carry an unregistered firearm. The Assistant DA also said it's very customary to get 2 years in a case like this, especially considering the trouble that Plax went to to try to cover it up.
Right on! Send these thugs to jail, no matter who they are!

hes a rich dude, afraid of getting smoked. being black with a gun doesnt automatically make you a thug.
