Default My early candidates for 2009 comeback POY
Tom Brady - for obvious reasons, the guy's season was ended week one

Roy E Williams - Who knows what his deal was but you have to assume he'll be putting up bigger numbers as the #1 in Dallas

Roy L Williams - After falling out favor in Dallas he only appeared in 6 games and did not start after week 2, in cinci he should have a lot of chances for tackles

Mike Williams(the OT not the WR) - Was picked up by the skins who dearly need to Oline help. He's over weight at the moment but is trying to drop 100 lbs before the season. Probably wants to just get closer to 370.

Carson Palmer - Only got back for 4 games last season, and even then didnt do that well. It may be hard to back while loosing WR threat TJ H. If the elbow holds he'll bounce back.

Chad Ochocinco - Without TJ in Cincinati Chad will have to step it up. His production was halved last year.

I think it will be Brett Favre since he said he wouldn't come back.

How much do you expect out of Brady this year? His injury was pretty tough and he may not be close to 100% plus Moss is a year older.

I guess I'd expect him to return to pre injury form.his team must be expecting it too, otherwise why trade cassel?

Because Cassell isn't that good and the SDSU guy could probably come in and do the same thing.

It's pretty difficult for a team to carry two franchise QBs on a roster. They didn't have too much choice but to trade Cassel.

Regardless, that's what I'm expecting and if he does it, that would put him in the discussion for comeback player

If Brady comes back and has a decent year and the Patriots make the playoffs the NFL will give him the award....they probably already have his name on it.

Other than my lame Brett Favre joke, I really can't come up with a better candidate.

Shawn Andrews of the Eagles (I really do not know much about players on other teams), now that his bro is on the team, and he seems to have a handle on what his problems have been in the past. Of course assuming he stays healthy.

coming back from the injury and switching to a more demanding position could at least put him in the discussion, but I can't see any OL get the award.

And a quick scan at the past winners shows mainly QBs and RBs.

Roy E Williams can be as much of a headcase as TO. He wont come out in the media and totally blast his teammates but his attitude can go way south if things arent going right. Plus he doesnt tip pizza delivery people.

I think the added pressure is going to be tough for him in Dallas now that he has to be the man.

Not just an injury, but depression, weight issues, and who knows what else, might make him a more compelling story than most OL, but I believe your point is most likely correct.

Don't forget about Osi Unmeniyora.

But, provided he doesn't stink up the place and has a stellar season, Brady will win CPOY.

yep. if Brady has even an average year he'll get it. hell, if he has one game of 300 yards and/or 3 TDs he'll get it.
