-- Responding to Delaware becoming the only state east of the Mississippi River to allow betting on sports after new legislation last week, Goodell said the league will examine potential revenue streams that could come from having logos available on lottery cards -- but reiterated the league's anti-betting stance. "To us, betting on the outcome of our games is something that we will always oppose vigorously," Goodell said.
via TSN yeah, like that never happens. |

If the NFL was really against gambling, would they encourage players to be in fantasy leagues? It is really a conflict of interest to have an opposing player on your fantasy team.
How hard will a CB try if the WR he is covering is in his fantasy teams? "If X player scores a TD, I win this week" must go through many players heads. And you know these guys will be in big money leagues. The NFL and Goodell are just a bunch of hot air blowing gasbags making money hand over fist and selling us all on a bill of goods. |

Redskins | Announce lottery partnership
Comment (0) Tweet me! Sat, 23 May 2009 06:56:44 -0700 The Associated Press reports the Washington Redskins became the second NFL team Friday, May 22, to announce a partnership with a state lottery, taking advantage of a new league rule designed to bring in more revenue during a weak economy. The Virginia Lottery will issue Redskins-themed scratch-off tickets for the 2009 season. The tickets will be sold only in Virginia. "We envision a game that will link lottery fans with the Redskins in new and exciting ways," Redskins chief operating officer Mitch Gershman said. The New England Patriots became the first team to announce such an agreement Thursday, May 21. How soon before the mob owns a team and the NFL touts it a way to bring revenue during a weak economy? |

"To us, betting on the outcome of our games is something that we will always oppose vigorously," Goodell said. Betting isn't only on the outcome of a game. I've seen bets on the first possession, who scores first, and even the coin toss. Only bet i've yet to see is which QB would line up under the wrong player for the snap. |
