Default Halftime shows suck
On both fox and CBS.

Halftime starts they go to commercial for 5 minutes. Come back show you 2 or 3 highlights from the game you are watching with barely any analysis. Go back to commericial for 5 minutes. Come back show one highlight from about 3 games. And back to commerical for 5-10 more minutes until the game restarts.

Pathetic

You're not utilizing halftime well.

Bathroom time, beer inventory, let the dog out and raid the fridg.

I imagine they have to scramble (meaning more commercial time than usual) when several games go to the half at the same time.

That's why they invented Tivo, to remove the pain of halftime.I now start watching games 20-45 minutes late EVEN when I'm home, just so I know I'll bypass all first half commercials and halftime.

even worse is the amount of commercial breaks during game itself

third down, team calls time out, go to commercial
come back, fail conversion, punt, go to commercial
vikings fumble, other teams score, go to commercial
Kick the extra point, go to commercial

and hof it's commercial

Kick off, go to commercial
vikings thrown an interception, go to commercial

ITS INSANE

I tried that during the Cowboys-Eagles Monday nighter the other week. Trying to show wife how well balanced I am that I could spend some time with her when she got home at 10. I paused the game, spent about 30-45 mins with her and the whole time my phone was off the hook with texts and calls.

And you sit there and you think "WTF is going on, what am I missing?" LOL

So if you do this take my advice, unplug the phone, shut off the cell, all of that.

And yeah, who watches halftime anymore? I have developed the ability to wait until about 30 mins after the game ends and check game center on nfl.com. They have all the highlights in a quick video..... good stuff!

Oh yeah. When some people I know who are probably watching the game start calling I get REAL nervous and make sure those calls DO NOT get answered.

Why are people calling me? Something big must be happening right now!

For the most part though it's no big deal, much more fun to sit straight through a game in 2 hours instead of 3 hours with commercials almost after every incompletion.

Or sometimes I'll delay my start time enough so I catch up to live sometime in the 4th quarter.

I can't believe my life before DVR. I became an expert at changing a diaper within 90 seconds (the average TV time out back in the day) but it could still be frustrating if you missed a big play. Now that never happens.
