Default NFL Power Rankings volume VII by moses
Tennessee Titans, 6-0: Last time I checked, a team that has the 4th best rushing offense and 3rd best defense is going to win a lot of games. On Sunday, the Titans almost had more total rushing yards then the Colts have had all season.

Pittsburgh Steelers, 5-1: The Steelers beat up on the Bengals which is a good thing because this is a game the Steelers are supposed to win. But with Willie Parker returning soon and this team at 5-1, this team shows no signs of slowing down. Who needs Bill Cowher?

New York Giants, 5-1: To say that the Giants defense made J.T. O'Sullivan their bitch would be an understatement. This game wasn't nearly as close as the scoreboard indicated, as the 49ers scored on a blocked field goal (albeit for the 2nd week in a row.) By the way, somebody tell the referees to stop throwing flags when people fake fall after a minor shove.

Arizona Cardinals, 4-2: As hard as it may be to believe, the Arizona Cardinals might actually be a good team. Kurt Warner gives them the experience they need to run this high-powered offense. And when you look at the rest of the NFC West, who is really going to stop this team? Exactly.

Buffalo Bills, 5-1: The Bills sole loss came at the hands of the mighty Cardinals with starting QB Trent Edwards hurt after 3 plays. With Edward healthy, this team is good. Lee Evans somehow comes up with the big play on a pretty consistent basis and Marshawn Lynch can keep the defense honest. Even if Tom Brady was healthy, the Bills still might be the team to beat in the AFC East.

Jacksonville Jaguars, 3-3: Jaguars benefit from a bye week this week and look for them to come out and finish the season strong. David Garrard has thrown more interceptions already this year than he did all of last year, but he also hasn't thrown an INT since week 3. Look for him to step up his play down the stretch.

Washington Redskins, 5-2: After losing to the Rams last week, was it any surprise that the Redskins came out and stomped the Browns this week. Wait, they won by a score of 14-11 and just escaped going into overtime against the Browns on a missed Phil Dawson field goal? Holy shit! How is this team 5-2? Well, they find ways to win games. Part of Sunday's win included holding Derek Anderson to 136 yards passing. Then again, this season, that's not much of an accomplishment.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 5-2: Speaking of yards, Tampa Bay held Seattle to 176 total yards of offense. If that doesn't impress you, then maybe the fact that Jeff Garcia threw for 310 yards and a touchdown will. Buccaneers possessed the ball for over 41 minutes on Sunday. This game was over before it started.

Carolina Panthers, 5-2: While experts claim the NFC East is the best division in football, the NFC South is the only team with three teams with 2 or less losses. The Panthers held the potent Saints passing attack to 231 yards. That's only the second time this year Brees has been held under 320 yards passing.

Dallas Cowboys, 4-3: The Cowboys are going to go through a rough patch right now. Romo is nursing a sore pinky and experts are wondering whether he will be able to effectively give Jessica the shocker for the rest of the season. With Brad Johnson stepping in for what could be a few more games, how many games until T.O., Roy Williams, or both start whining about losing games and not getting enough touches?

New England Patriots, 4-2: Before Patriots fans start getting too excited, the offense put up 41 points on one of the worst defenses in NFL history. But at the same time, the defense successfully shut down one of the better offenses in the league. But what's up with this guy BenJarvus Green-Ellis? That's got to be one of the weirdest names I've ever heard.

Denver Broncos, 4-3: Denver has got to do something about that defense, but we can still take some positives out of the blowout loss to New England. First, the Broncos weren't humiliated at home. Second, the Broncos are still in first in the AFC West as all of the other teams try as hard as they can to avoid winning the division. And third, it's not like Denver's best cornerback, and possibly the best cornerback in the league, injured himself during the game.

Philadelphia Eagles, 3-3: With the bye week, Eagles fans are hoping Shawn Andrews and Brian Westbrook can return to the team healthy this week. Losing one Probowler is bad enough, just ask Tony Romo, but being without an All-Pro guard and All-Pro running back can make an otherwise good team look horrible. But at least the Eagles made significant changes over the week off. Tony Hunt's absence from the team definitely puts them over the top. They're at least the 3rd or 4th best team in the NFC East now because of that.

Green Bay Packers, 4-3: I asked my Dad in disbelief this week why he thought Green Bay was going to beat Indianapolis. I should have bowed to his superior football knowledge. What was I thinking? Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne combined for 4 receptions and 35 yards. Good job, Packers secondary.

Chicago Bears, 4-3: 48 points isn't bad for a team I claimed has no players worthy of starting on offense in the NFL. It helps when your defense scores a touchdown and forces 4 turnovers. But don't give too much credit to the defense. 41 points is something you'd expect a beat up Patriots offense to put up on a crappy Broncos D, not what the hapless Vikings should be putting up on the Bears.

San Diego Chargers, 3-4: The Chargers have looked pretty weak this year, but find themselves only 1 game out of first. That's worth something. Sooner or later, you figure LT is going to turn it on.

Indianapolis Colts, 3-3: I'm looking at these last two entires and thinking: what the hell happened to the AFC? It's gotten to the point where you almost have to think that Peyton and Eli have switched uniforms or something.

Atlanta Falcons, 4-2: Falcons are a tough team with a heck of a running game. The Falcons are built in a similar mold as the Tennessee Titans, though, and that makes them a dangerous team. Matt Ryan has played better than most expected, too. But does anyone really think this team is for real? I sure as hell don't.

Baltimore Ravens, 3-3: Willis McGahee is officially back. And did anyone see that Terrell Suggs interception TD? That was awesome. Still, this offensive lacks any explosiveness, which is alright since the team has a great defense, but I've got to see more out of Flacco before I'm convinced.

New York Jets, 3-3: Did the Jets seriously lose to the Oakland Raiders? Anyone expecting to see Favre throw for 400 yards and 10 TDs was disappointed as the Jets were pretty much shut down. Are there any Favre retirement rumors yet?

New Orleans Saints, 3-4: Losing Reggie Bush hurts, not just for him, but the team is going to suffer. However, the return of Colston and Shockey should help the team out. They're going to have a tough time competing in the NFC South, but this is also a team that started 0-4 last year. Trust me, they're resilient.

Minnesota Vikings, 3-4: Vikings fans were on the edge of their seats this week as they saw something for the first time in 3 years: the semblance of an actual offense. Unfortunately for them, their dreams of a 300 yard passer were crushed by about 2 yards as Gus Frerotte threw away any chance the team had of winning with his 4 interceptions.

Houston Texans, 2-4: Houston has now won 2 games in a row and if not for Sage Rosenfels doing his best football imitation of Cliff Clavin, the team would be 3-3. Does anyone else wish the Texans would just trade Andre Johnson already? This guy is one of the best young receivers in the league and he's rotting down there in that cesspool we all call Texas.

Miami Dolphins, 2-4: Well, the Dolphins looked good for 2 weeks there as they beat both the Patriots and the Chargers, but their "factor-back" formation isn't fooling anyone anymore, especially not the team with the best overall defense in the league. But at least the Dolphins are 1st in one category: lamest logo ever. I don't get a chance to rant about this too offten, so bear with me here. A fucking dolphin wearing a football helmet? Are you kidding me? Who the hell came up with this and why has it remained as the Dolphins logo for so long? No wonder this team hasn't won a Superbowl in almost 40 years.

25. St. Louis Rams, 2-4: It appears Steven Jackson has awoken from his coma and the Rams have now beaten two of the better teams in the league in back to back weeks. But before the Rams extend Jim Haslett, keep in mind why he was on the Rams coaching staff to begin with and not the head coach of the Saints anymore.

Cleveland Browns, 2-4: I'll keep this short and sweet. Derek Anderson sucks. Start Brady Quinn.

San Francisco 49ers, 2-5: Another situation that calls for a change at quarterback. The sad thing is, nobody knows who the back-up is in San Francisco. But that's ok, nobody knew who J.T. O'Sullivan was before this season either.

Oakland Raiders, 2-4: I know there is one Cable Guy I won't be calling to install my Comcast digital cable box any time soon. The Raiders were seriously lucky they won this game. Here is a memo to call NFL head coaches: STOP CALLING TIMEOUT RIGHT BEFORE A FG ATTEMPT! I can't remember the last time it actually worked.

Cincinnati Bengals, 0-7: The only reason the Bengals are this high is because Carson Palmer will win some games for them once he returns. Some of these other teams just flat out suck.

Kansas City Chiefs, 1-5: While I commend Herm Edwards for benching Larry Johnson and sending a message to the rest of the team, how effective will it be? The team has already admitted they've been trying to trade players to rebuild, all but admitting the team has no shot this year. That's got to be a boost of confidence for the guys on this team.

Seattle Seahawks, 1-5: Being the worst team in the worst division in football means that this team is really, really bad. I was excited to see Seneca Wallace play this week. On dadden, I can usually win plenty of games with Seneca at quarterback. But what I failed to recognize is that (1) when I play madden, the other players on the team are usually good and (2) madden isn't real life. Well, Seneca, it was fun while it lasted. I'll still pick you up in madden and give fits to my opponents with your running ability.

Detroit Lions, 0-16: Errmmm, I mean 0-6. With Kitna injured, Lions fans should rejoice that they actually get to see if the young QBs they have on the roster are any good. But remember, Matt Millen drafted them, so they probably suck.

The game will be pretty low scoring. I'm thinking Pittsburgh wins 17-14.

Mewelde Moore has been a big time pickup for the Steelers......does it all out there.

Darnell Stapleton has stepped in for Simmons and has solidified the line. Marvel Smith was out and Max Starks took his place and did a real good job.

Things are falling in line for the Steelers.....lets hope they don't get shredded by anymore injuries.
