doesnt want to have to bother with the draft this year. I have a feeling he's going to be doing some wheeling and dealing on the second day to get a couple extra late rounders. Probably feels as though the core of players he's built is good enough and the folks he just added are the icing on the cake. With the later round players, he'll have a bunch of dime store pickups that he can develope when some of the others choose to leave for greener pastures or get hurt. Probably doesn't want to dole out a bunch of cash for some overrated first rounder and bicker with some second rounder with an over-inflated ego. The third rounder is a mystery to me. They're usually the ones who feel a bit slighted by the whole process and get the chips on their shoulders. Probably doesn't want to bother with some ill-tempered punk. I made up the last one. |

i think he's made some good moves, but he's lost all his picks...two for DT's from the NFCN..and none of them any of the good ones ![]() The moves themselves weren't bad considering the players he got. It's what he gave up for the two of them that disturbs me a bit. I think the world of Corey Williams, but I don't know what to say about his ability to play the bulk of the snaps when the defense is out there. Previously he's been part of a rotation deep with talent and ability. Now he's going to a team where he is the talent. That being said, I don't know if he was really worth a second round pick, but I won't argue as it gives the Packers another second rounder to play with come the end of April. Rogers is another good pickup, but again the giving up of the highest pick you have left is another head scratcher. I think he probably could have been gotten by sending the CB they sent and a couple of scrubs on the defensive side of the ball. |

Rogers is 60 lbs overweight I honestly wonder what the morale of the players is in Detroit. Every season, I see this team come out all gung-ho about a new season and how they know it's going to be different this year. Then they start to lose a few games because they're either poorly coached or just don't have the talent and ability to compete with the other teams for longer than the first half of the season. There are several very talented players on that team who really seeminly have no support to apply that talent. If these guys had a better supporting cast and better game plans to exploit their talent, some of these players would become all-stars. Look at all these receivers Millen loves to pick. I don't think some of them were ever that bad. Hell in college they were studs, but when they come to Detroit, they have no one to throw to them because the QB is consistently on his back-side. Even Joey Harrington, was he really that bad or was he on his ass too often to be able to become the QB he was needed to become? Perhaps a bit of both and more with some less-than-stellar coaching thrown in there for good measure? Who the hell wants to play and play well for the Lions, considering it's a very good bet the team will go nowhere every season? As demoralizing as it has to be for the fans, how bad is it for players both currently in the league and prospective to the league? Unless I was a punter, I wouldn't want to play for the Lions, because I'd be afraid my career would be ruined before it ever got started (as a rookie) or could resume (as a FA). |
