Default Romo's intentional grounding
I'm surprised I didn't hear more about the fact that the NFL admitted the refs made a mistake in calling intentional grouding against Romo on the final drive.

I didn't hear they had even made that admission until today.

I believe that was admitted earlier this week.

Thanks so much for opening up fresh wounds.

You know Cowboys fans. They don't like to live in the past. Gotta just keep moving on.

That's why I'm surprised it wasn't talked about that much. Seemed to be pretty quiet.

People still open my '98 Vikes wounds -- so you are welcome.

Not sure how any interpretation by the refs could lead to the call of intentional grounding. At the time, I thought it was the right call -- not knowing duress is an element of the rule. But seeing this picture, I don't know how the refs came to that conclusion.

Duress seems retarded to be a requirement.

Either way, a bad play by Romo-If he wasn't "under duress" why did he throw it away, rather than waiting for someone to get open?

That I'm not disputing. But obviously throwing the flag was wrong.

Why bother? Regardless of how much we moan & groan....the league ain't giving my Boys 10 yards back and another play.

I'm quite familiar with Roger Staubach's Hail Marry pass in 1975....what happened in 1998?

I'd guess that would go to the nature of the play.

But I'd think that running it would be a preferable option.

Dude. He threw the ball away - intentionally - while he still had 15 minutes to throw the football.

It makes absolutely no sense other than it's another choke job by Romo. His head was certainly not present.

Dude. It's only 1st down....that gives us 3 more tries.

It's makes better sense than taking a sack for a loss or throwing a potential pick. Maybe Jason finally convinced him not to be the "hero" every play.

I think what ultimately led to that flag was for the reason of Romo acting like a whiney little bitch on that play. He was about two seconds from commiting a belly flop on the turf to start kicking and screaming. He wouldn't leave the refs alone. I think had he actually let them be and gone back to his huddle or just given them some room and peace, they might have ruled differently.

I think as a result they threw the flag for intentional grounding as opposed to unsportsmanlike conduct-being a whiney bitch. Romo was becoming uncorked at that point of the game and I'd be willing to bet the refs were getting sick of him acting like a little kid out there.

Of course, given the way the rest of the team played, I guess I can't totally fault Romo for his actions. If the rest of the team quit on me, I'd be a piss ass too.

He was under no pressure!!

Lifer, come on man. 1st down or not, that was idiocy. When you are losing in the final minutes of the 4th quarter in a playoff game, methinks wasting downs like that is lunacy.

How do you interpret duress? Does it actually have to be caused by a defender or do the happy feet in Romo's head qualify?

Throwing the ball away is idiocy? Come on Man. Coaches teach that all the time to either avoid a sack or a costly pick.
