Default HOF Spotlight: Warrick Dunn
2446 carries, 10,061 yards, 4.1 y/c, 46 TDs
458 receptions, 3,973 yards, 8.7 y/r, 15 TDs

The vote is up to you. Is Warrick Dunn worthy of a spot in the Hall of Fame?

I think Dunn needs at least two more years of production in order to be considered for the Hall of Fame. if he could somehow net 12,000 yards then I think he will get in, but I don't think he is going to get the opportunity to do so

I guess what really hurts him is the lack of touchdowns. But his yardage is pretty amazing. Another year and it's possible he ends his career with 15,000 yards from scrimmage. I could be wrong, but there is no player in the NFL that has 15,000 yfs and isn't in the hall.

I voted no, because I never felt he had a sustained period when he was one of the top players at his position.

This is true. The only players that have 15,000 yards from scrimmage and aren't in the hall include: Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Marshall Faulk, Curtis Martin, Tiki Barber, Tim Brown, and Jerome Bettis. I am pretty sure that all of their careers could make them Hall worthy. Barber might have cut his career short too soon to be considered though. But even with him, it will be close. Probably a lot closer than with Dunn. The TD's are the big thing. If you have that many yards, one would think that you would also have a lot of TD's, but all those years in Tampa Bay he was getting the yards, while Alstott was scoring the touchdowns.

That is the problem with Dunn. He never was one of the top players at the running back position. He was always just kind of .... there. I mean even in 2005 when he had his "career year" in rushing yards with a little over 1400 finishing 8th, no one really knew because he scored so few touchdowns and was overshadowed by the great seasons that Alexander, Barber, and Johnson had. I mean he was averaging a little over 5 yards per carry and it still wasn't even good enough to compete with the rushing stats that Michael Vick was putting up that year, who had more touchdowns and the best yards per carry average in the league.
