As for who contributes, the players are already contributing a sizeable chunk to their own retirement. I hate to say it, but while they owe something to the old-timers, the owners owe significantly more. Though I could see this being a staple portion of future negotiations.

As for the refs, it doesn't matter if they are full time or part time - they are still going to get calls wrong, and people will complain (even if the calls are correct). The issue is PT with decent pay, or FT with slightly better pay + benefits.

Isn't it interesting that the 'benefits' issue crops up in two places?
I don't know about it not mattering between PT and FT, especially with the idea of the benefits. If someone feels they are undercompensated for their services rendered, they tend to put less quality and attention into their jobs. Now with the refs, I obviously haven't had the opportunity to see the mistakes or perhaps lack there of by other crews, but I've seen a fair amount of mistakes made in the games I have watched (not limited to only Packers games I might add). I've seen some calls and even no-calls where it seemed the officials were acting in some sort of bias. Officials are to be fully unbiased. These instances may or may not have affected the ultimate outcome of the games, but they sure did seem like it at the time.

Because it's so fresh in my mind, I'll use the issue with the Bubba Franks no-call on the force out, which cost the Packers a TD. I understand the coaches have the ability to challenge a call on the field, but why not allow the officials to ask for a replay in certain situations (long pass completions or scoring situations) to make sure they have the least amount of doubt possible to make the most educated call.
