Default Colts to part ways with DT Simon
TERRE HAUTE, INDIANA (TICKER) -- The Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts are expected to come to a settlement and release defensive tackle Corey Simon.
Simon, who failed his physical on Sunday, missed the entire 2006 season after starting 13 games for the Colts in 2005.

Colts owner and chief executive officer Jim Irsay said that a settlement would be reached with Simon so that he could "pursue his opportunities some place else" and the decision would come "in the next couple days."

A former Pro Bowl selection, Simon joined Indianapolis as a free agent in 2005 and played in 13 games recording 35 tackles. However, the eight-year veteran was on the non-football injury list for the first four weeks of 2006 and never played a down for the Super Bowl champions.

The 30-year-old Simon spent five years with the Philadelphia Eagles after being taken with the sixth pick of the 2000 draft. The 6-2, 300-pound tackle recorded a career-best 9 1/2 sacks in his rookie season.
