Without a doubt he didn't deserve it, but sometimes famous athletes are just asking to get shot when they go to certain places.

They said he was on his way home from the club, and my dad heard that the other man was Javon Walker.

Could have either been someone going after Walker, and he got hit, or even just someone who saw them at the club, was jealous of what they had, and decided to light them up.

Who knows...but it didn't sound like this kid had any kind of enemies, nor was the type to find trouble.

Damn. I was watching ESPN and they played the interview they had with Tatum Bell, poor guy was crying and all.

It hits harder when you see guys like Bell crying.

I wouldn't say it's a shady area at all. 11th and grant i actually drove by on my way home from work at my old job, and used to always go to a bar for happy hour at 10th and grant. I'm not even sure what bar there is at 11th and grant. It isn't in the "traditional" bar area which i was at all night.

J-walk was in the limo as well, but wasn't shot... it was some other girl in the car, she was my friend's, brother's, girlfriend's friend. I don't think she was hurt bad, but she did get shot in the head, the limo stopped the bullet enough that it didn't get into her brain or anything.

This is some scary sad shit. No need, just no need. There's a lot of macho-ness in denver (which results in fights), but we don't really have drive by's regularly. Fuckin ridiculous.

I can't help but thinking this, but do you think that some fan was just pissed that the Bronc's missed the playoffs, got his gang together and took out some anger?

I've thought that too. Someone took the loss to SF way too hard, was too pissed (a lot of people out here are super pissed about missing out on the playoffs because of losing to SF in a must win)... has serious issues, got wasted, saw the broncos in a limo and did a spur of the moment type thing.

They were college teammates, if I'm not mistaken - both went to Oklahoma State, right?

This is just ... senseless and awful. Horrifying for his family, friends and teammates.

He was one of my favorite young DBs in the league, as far as football goes, and clearly a budding star. As far as humanity goes, it sounds like he was a hell of a guy and a teammate, which makes it even more surprising and terrible.

Senseless, that's all I can say.

If you go to these clubs and get in arguments with thugs, this is what happens!

It is sad, it is a commentary on todays life, and it sucks!

Technically, he didn't start anything at the club, at least that's whats being reported.

I'm still thinking it was just some pissed off fan.

According to this article, it says there was an "incident" inside the club, and the group decided to leave. Certainly doesn't sound like an angry fan. Coincidentally (or maybe not) Kenyon Martin was hosting a party at the club last night.

What a bummer for Walker......this whole thing is just a bummer.

From PFT

POSTED 7:10 p.m. EST, January 1, 2007 WILLIAMS DIED IN JAVON WALKER'S LAP A league source tells us that the current talk in team circles is that Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams expired in the lap of receiver Javon Walker after being shot early Monday morning in a limousine. Williams, we're told, expired instantly. Also in the limousine were linebacker D.J. Williams and receiver Brandon Marshall. Two others who were riding in the vehicle with the Broncos players were shot, but Walker, D.J. Williams, and Marshall were not injured. Initially, it was feared that Walker also had been shot, but it was determined that the blood on his clothing was from Williams. (We really couldn't think of a more delicate way to report that specific fact, and we continue to feel nauseous about the entire ordeal. We've heard good things about Darrent Williams from members of the media, and our thoughts are with his family.) We're told that local police have strong leads as to the suspects, and that arrests are expected to come sooner rather than later. Apparently, the bullets were fired by a group of men with whom the Broncos players had squabbled at a New Year's Eve party hosted by one or more members of the Denver Nuggets.

She said she's searching for answers about her son's final moments. She wants to talk to receiver Javon Walker, who reportedly was in the limousine with Williams.

"I can't bring Dee back," she said. "I do want his killer brought to justice. If we turn the other cheek and let it go, that's saying it's OK to carry guns, do a drive-by. I pray for the killer that he gets his life right."

Williams' mother said she was comforted by the words of Broncos coach Mike Shanahan, who visited her hotel room Monday afternoon.

"It meant the world to me that Mr. Shanahan came to the hotel and had a talk with me," she said.

Williams was a second-round draft choice in 2005 out of Oklahoma State and teamed with Champ Bailey to give Denver one of the NFL's top cornerback tandems.

Funeral arrangements tentatively are planned for Saturday at Great Commission Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, where Williams grew up.

Last month, he said he wanted to go to Fort Worth to talk to kids about staying out of street gangs.

His mother said those dreams don't have to die with him.

"I want every kid to know to live their life to the fullest," she said. "Don't let anyone say you can't do anything. Look what Dee achieved in 24 years."

This is so wrong. I don't know why people feel the need to kill. Nothing that is said could cause me to kill someone.
