from PFT:
SABAN TO 'BAMA CONFIRMED A league source with knowledge of the situation tells us that Dolphins coach Nick Saban is on a plane to Tuscaloosa. So, unless he's going there to scope out a new vacation home, he'll be the new coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Done deal. Farewell, Nicktator. We've enjoyed following your brief NFL career. POSTED 10:16 a.m. EST, January 3, 2007 SABAN FLYING TO TUSCALOOSA? ESPN's Hank Goldberg has just mentioned on the air an unconfirmed rumor that a private jet has left Miami for Tuscaloosa, and that (former?) Fins coach Nick Saban is on it. Goldberg also says there is talk that Saban's agent, Jimmy Sexton, has been floating Saban's name as possibly having an interest in returning to the college game in the weeks before the Alabama rumors got started. And that meshes with our report from a couple of months ago that Saban is unhappy in Miami and would be inclined to head back to the college game. The deadline for Saban's decision was 10:00 a.m. EST. No decision has been disclosed yet. And there's no way, as we see it, that Saban can stay now. The fans, the media, and likely the owner will never be able to trust him in the future, as all involved will assume annually that his departure is imminent. |

Money talks. The money he got offered was too much to pass on. Plus if he was unhappy like this article says I can't blame him for leaving. Maybe he shouldn't have left in the first place. Who wouldn't be unhappy in Miami too? |

Oh okay I didnt know about that one. I still think he could have gotten it done in Miami, especially with the support that Huizenga gives his coaches. But then again Saban did screw up THE biggest decision he had to make (Brees vs. Culpepper) and the one decision that he just couldn't afford to screw up. Plus, I'm not real thrilled about any of the potential candidates to replace him. |

Yeah no shit. Fucking prick. WH also mentioned/allowed it to slip at the meeting that THEY ALL discussed it this morning... Huizenga said he met with Saban and his wife this morning. "It is what it is," Huizenga said, borrowing Saban's pet phrase. "I'm not upset, because it's more involved than what you think." "I've been through this with Nick for quite some time now, and I feel the pain and so forth and so on of Nick and Terry, and it's not a very simple thing," Huizenga said. "I think Nick's great. I'll be Nick's biggest fan. I'll be cheering for him to win that bowl game." http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/MIA/9905429 |

We dont know the complete story..Wayne Huizenga mentioned that Nick Saban never told him that he was not leaving..Only that they had discussed it and that he told Saban that he was behind him what ever choice he made. Now as far as I know that those are unconfirmed reports, but when we DO know for sure is that when it came down to it, Saban didn't have the balls, or even the common decency, to stand up for his decision. Then again I guess it's hard to face the same people you just finished shitting on when they were in the right. |
