I'm not going to go nutty and post W-L predictions, SB predictions, etc. What I am going to do, however, is list who I think will win each division, and why (maybe), and who the WC's will be this year in each Conference. I fully recognize that it is August 2nd, and that I might be completely full of shit. You will not see me post such things as "take it to vegas, baby" or "book it" or "Put this in your signature, bitches, cuz this is how this shit's gonna be".

These are just my predictions on how the divisions could very well possibly go down.

NFC West
St Louis
Seattle
Arizona
San Fransisco

Ok, I know, i certainly didn't go out on a limb on this one. The only real difference I see in this division from last year is that St Louis will win it this time around. I'm done placing any stock in Seattle.

NFC North
Detroit
Minnesota
Green Bay
Chicago

GB almost was in last place, but then I came to my senses. Favre. Walker. Green. Franks. Despite the horrendous defense, that's not a last place offense. Detroit will finally make something happen. But they'll still lose in round 1 of the playoffs.

NFC South
Carolina
Atlanta
New Orleans
Tampa Bay

Carolina has a helluva defense, and their offense will be adequate. Vick is nothing to be afraid of anymore, as it is my opinion that teams have figured out how to stop him. Without any real threat at WR, I simply don't think they can finish the season ahead of Carolina. This was a tough one to pick.

NFC East
Philadelphia
Dallas
Washington
NYG

No NFC East team has shown me anything to make me think they could take away our throne on top. Dallas made improvements, but it's not enough...and Parcells is going to shoot himself in the foot and start Bledsoe, I see that comin a mile away. Eli will struggle, and Tiki will come back down to Earth, putting this NYG team in the cellar.

NFC Wild Cards
Atlanta
Minnesota

AFC West
San Diego
Oakland
Kansas City
Denver

I don't care what anyone says, you simply cannot doubt the talent on that Oakland team. That's why I put them in second. They're not in first because the Chargers have discovered that winning is much mroe fun than losing, and I think they intend to do a lot more of it.

AFC North
Baltimore
Pittsburgh
Cincinatti
Cleveland

I don't see the Steelers being nearly as dominant in the AFC like they were last year. Baltimore will surprise many, and win enough games to win this division.

AFC South
Indianapolis
Houston
Tenessee
Jacksonville

No one will knock off Indy. Houston will be respectable this year, reversing last year's record of 7-9 to 9-7, IMO. I don't know that Tennessee really improved at all, and I just don't trust Jax.

AFC East
NY Jets
Buffalo
New England
Miami

No, that's not a typo. New England will be lucky to be .500 this season. The jets will be dominant in this division, but Buffalo won't be far behind. Miami has some work to do before I'll dig them out of the cellar. They need to stop their crying for starters.

AFC Wild Cards
Pittsburgh
Oakland

Where it would go from there, I have no idea and won't waste my time predicting.
This is a good example why one should never make predictions so early. I mean, it's fun and all, and always nice to see if you'll be right...but dang, i made an ass of myself with these picks! Not that anyone could predict half of what's occured this season, but still. Interesting.

Just as it was too early to make those predictions...right now, it's too early to say they're wrong. Aside from Oaktown in the WC, things could shape up fairly well for your predictions.

I'm not trying to make a case, it happened.

PART of my viking history, is choking. It's in our blood. it is our shame

it is something i hope to see cured.
I'd be just as happy if they didn't choke but the Packers still won the division, to be honest with you.

yes, favre has won his past two games in the dome, before that he was horrendous....at oen point his career rating there was like 50...i mean, not TJ "audible" Rubley bad, but bad.

DC's ratign/stats vs GB last year were outstanding, not one INT and 12 TD's. You certinaly cant fault him for any of the two losses.

But past two seasons favre's 1-2 at lambeau vs vikings

it's not greenbay's to lose

packers have won division past two years by skin of their teeth
Now now.

They won it. Are you trying to minimize what that means ?

well, they went on to lose in the playoffs

once to second place division

and if it werent for pooles miracle catch......
Well whatever.

If you are saying the Packers sucked and still won -- all I can say is they were looking down at 3 other teams.

The Seahawks will also definitely go undefeated....

...in at least these three games: the last week of the preseason, Week 13, and Week 17! Among others too of course.

I'm pretty sure the Packer D last year raised the QB-rating of every opposing QB ... even the Bears. Although I really don't know.
Does it really matter if you have 4 ounces or 3 ounces of crap in your pocket?

Nice work......but Packer Land is gonna struggle with your placement of their team. Detroit finally on top, simply amazing. Go Roy Williams.
I can live with your NFC East list for the time being.
It's kinda tough to get pissed to the same degree after hearing much of the same type of prediction year after year.

It's more of a yawn.

I'll still throw in a ho hum kind of disagreement, and try not to wink.

Well, it would matter with respect to how soon you'd need to get more fertilizer.
