I'll give him a pass. The guy is mentally out of whack. PRetty much had a breakdown. I like the guys ability personally and am curious to see if a recharge does anything for him. |

From a December 20th interview with 60 minutes:
"And his sudden departure just days before training camp doomed the Dolphins to their worst season in franchise history, and infuriated his former fans, especially his teammates. And if they want me to apologize just to apologize, then I will apologize. But it doesn’t mean anything unless I understand what I’m apologizing for." "You're apologizing for letting them down," says Wallace. "The Dolphins thought with you, and mainly with you that they had a chance at the Super Bowl." "What if I disagree? Do I still have to apologize, that I cost them their season," says Williams. "I played my butt off. I played as hard as I could whenever I put that uniform on. But I’m not doing that anymore, you know? I moved on. So when is it OK for me to stop playing football? When would it have been OK for me to stop playing football? When my knees went out? When my shoulders went out? When I had too many concussions? Like what? When is it OK?" "I'm just curious, because I don't understand. When is it OK to not play football anymore," adds Williams. "I didn't know ahead of time. Or I would have given them a clue. Happened in the course of two days. Boom, boom, boom, boom." Has he retired or quit? "I've retired from that lifestyle," says Williams." http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/...in661572.shtml ESPN article from today: "At a team meeting Sunday after players reported for camp, Williams spoke briefly and apologized for the impact caused by his retirement a year ago last weekend. The Dolphins went into a nosedive and finished 4-12, their worst season since the 1960s. "There were things about life that I wanted to explore outside of football, and I had never had the chance," Williams said at a news conference after practice. "I realize by making that decision, I affected the team in a negative way and upset a lot of fans. "I'm very regretful that people were hurt in the process of me doing that. I do realize that to a lot of people it comes off as being very selfish. So I do offer an apology to all the people who were negatively impacted." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2116037 Who else besides a physical specimen like Ricky Williams could get away with this double talk? I guess I'm not against giving him another chance, especially for the league minumum salary he's getting, but I wouldn't trust that he'll be around for the long term, either. Reminds me of the beautiful but soulless girl in your high school history class who could pull any and all kinds of shit on people and still have guys tripping over themselves to get attention from her. |

I love the phins and i have no doubt its all about the money. I dont care though. Some people play for money, some for fame, some for the love of the game. As long as RW gives the same kind of max effort he gave before his abrupt leave, he can be forgiven for a mistake.
Just no more of this 4-12 shit! i cant take that or i might snap. |

I think it was as much that as Wannstedt abusing his ass; 750 carries in 2 years? Most ever a 2 year stretch and nothing was going to change as long as wanny was coach. I think RW's quality of life after football was at stake and he knew it |
