He was a touchdown guy

Simpson had previously said that Allen confided to him that he had dated Nicole and had sex with her after the divorce. Simpson said the fact that he remained friends with Allen and even hosted his 1993 wedding at his Brentwood mansion showed that he was not a jealous ex-husband.

No cheesehead ownership? ......I thought that was a requirement for Packer Land.

I thought you were gonna have a drink. Sounds more like drinks with your foggy thinking.

You supposed to tackle him....he is your moving target.

Does this make better sense?
Nope.

This could be debated till the cows come home and HAS been here at SB...

Both men were freaking awesome and 2 of MY all time favorites to watch....

Top 2 RB's EVER in my eyes....
It's a tough call. Both great backs.

I thought Gale Sayers was the most amazingly talented running back I ever saw.

yeah, he broke my heart plenty of times. Enough times to warrant hatred. But its tough to hate something you respect.

Now Michael Irvin on the other hand....
Hey leave America's favorite crackhead alone....lol ,and I'm not a Emmitt hater, just never really impressed me....if He would have been oh lets say reversed with Sanders. If Smith was a Lion and Sanders a Cowboy, would we even be discussing Smith at all?I dont think so.

I think emmitt obviously benefitted from a good surrounding cast, but when people don't put him in even top 15 lists that gets a little ridiculous.
I call it denial & envy.

agreed. I wish Sanders had stayed for another 2 years and put the title somewhere no one else could touch it, namely someone playing just for the title and nothing else.

emmit was a class act though.
But he didn't.

Goals are important in anyone's life and drive. If you had been playing in Emmitt's shoes, it's difficult to imagine not having the rushing title as a goal to reach. There's nothing wrong with that.

All kinds.

Emmitt was a bruiser. And a flasher.

So were Barry and Walter. But they had a bit more ... Something.

But I still say Gale Sayers was the best running back on the field.
I wish I had been able to watch guys like Sayers and Brown run. I did get to see quite a bit of Payton, luckily. I was a big fan of his ever since I picked up Tecmo Bowl and ran over everyone with him

Thats exactly what I was thinking. I only say that because I know I forgot about how good he was back then. Like I said earlier, he was mainly a BTT runner so he didnt get to show off to much. He didnt have to score every time he had the ball because their offense was so balanced.

But, you watch film from him, from his prime, and you cant help but be very impressed. i think it is sad how commonplace the theory of Smith being so overrated really is.
It's just too easy to dislike anything associated with Dallas.

Your thoughts are messed up top to bottom.

But check with the one who knows. She'll fill you in.

I don't rely on 'anyone' giving him credit. I believe my own eyes. Emmitt gained over 1,ooo yards for ten straight years.
If that's not 'that damn good' then I don't know what is.

Listen, as a Packer fan, I have every reason in the world to hate Smith. But I respect him for his accomplishments on the field, just like i did Walter Payton and Barry Sanders. All these guys were on hated enemy teams, but I respect the shit out of them for the GREATNESS they showed on the field.
Sorry. I don't consider that great. Not because of what it is, but because of how it was done. Running behind the starting NFC Pro-Bowl line every year would do that for a lot of guys. Tell it like it is. He was in a great situation and took advantage of it.

I have had a fierce hatred of the Cowboys for most of my life. That being said, I never hated Emmitt Smith. There wasnt anything flashy about him because he was a between-the-tackles guy. When he got out in the open, he could run you over or make you look silly. He was a great back. Sure, he had a phenomenal line and a great supporting cast, but he was damn taltented.

I dont think he is as good as Payton, Sanders, or Jim Brown, but I will put him at #4.

It also doesnt hurt that the guy has been a man of integrity his entire career.
Not bad for a guy that's only 5' 9" and full of heart.

Perhaps you should check out some games of the early 90s......too bad you elected to miss the games and the spectacular show of athleticism.
In the early 90's I was a Bills fan...I would rather not remember those years....

It's a losing battle on this board. It's not worth my time. Everybody should know my stance by now. Hating the Boys I can understand but refusing to give Emmitt the credit he deserves is failure to accept reality and recognize determined talent.
Ride'em CowBoy.

Easy. Folks have different opinions. I hate the Cowboys, but not nearly as much now that they've sucked so bad.

Emmitt deserves plenty of credit. The guy was a wrecking ball.

I'll accept durable.
That's an understatement. The guy's made of steel.
Hating a football player for toughness and longevity makes no sense.

Gale Sayers was EXCITEMENT. At any time. At any moment. I've never played a video game like that, so I don't know how that works.

Tragic that Sayers' career was so short. He's a good man, too.

Payton was a very hard worker. A professional. Much like Jerry Rice. Even Roger Craig back in those days.
I loved Roger Craig man. It always looked like he was attending a step-aerobics class when he would run.

But yeah, Tecmo Bowl. You really are living a sheltered life if you havent experienced it.

and yeah, Gale Sayers. Fucking bulldozer.

There was a bar in Brentwood called "Mom's" .... up on San Vicente I think.

Marcus hung out there now and then. He was afraid to take me on in darts.

I will say he was a class act. At least in all the times I've ever observed him. The U.S.C. thing brings him down...... But John Robinson snookered him.
Maybe he was a one sport kind of guy, since clearly darts and snooker are out.
