NFL | Law Says Fat Rumors Are Unjust
Mon, 27 Jun 2005 22:27:45 -0700 Peter King, of Sports Illustrated, reports free agent CB Ty Law (Patriots) has heard rumors that some NFL executives are worried that he's gotten fat from all his inactivity while recovering from a Lisfranc ligament sprain in his foot. "I heard that," Law said. "You know, I went six months non-weight-bearing. I usually report to camp at 200 and play at around 205. Being non-weight-bearing, I was probably on the plus side of 220, but I never weighed myself. Who's not going to gain some weight when you can't put any weight on your leg for half a year? I was bedridden, basically. Come on. I can't recall an offseason where my weight didn't go up anyway, and I never was overweight entering training camp." Patriots | Law Thinks Injury Wasn't Treated Right Mon, 27 Jun 2005 22:26:31 -0700 Peter King, of Sports Illustrated, reports free agent CB Ty Law (Patriots) claims the Lisfranc ligament sprain in his foot that he suffered last season was not diagnosed by the Patriots medical staff. It wasn't until he went to see Dr. Mark Myerson, one of the country's foremost foot and ankle specialists (he operated on WR Terrell Owens after T.O.'s ankle injury last season), that Law says he learned he had the ligament sprain. "If it had been diagnosed on time," Law said, "I'd have been ready for someone's minicamp. But now I'm about 85 percent and I know I'll be fine for training camp." NFL | Law Says He's League's Top CB Mon, 27 Jun 2005 21:53:36 -0700 Peter King, of Sports Illustrated, reports free agent CB Ty Law (Patriots) says once his foot injury has healed and he gets signed, he'll be the best cover man in the league this season. "I'm going to be the best cornerback in football this year,'' Law said. "I'm just not sure where that's going to be yet.'' |
