I'm digging up an old discussion but: Does anyone else think Barry Sanders could still be a 1000 yard rusher in today's NFL? It reminds me of one of the best sports quotes of all time, though. Somebody asked Ty Cobb what his batting average would be if he played in the modern time and he said .290 without hesitation. The guy asked him if that was because of night games, better pitching or whatever and Cobb said, "No. It's because I'm 79 years old." |

Well, I am not a lions fan. They won alot of games in spite of having a terrible coach. Your statement about playing for a "losing team" his entire career is incorrect. If you mean they didnt win the SuperBowl while he was there, then there are alot of quitters on the list. |

Well, considering he hasn't play in what -- 6 years? I'd say that is a pretty impressive accomplishment. |

First I would like to state that it was not barry's fault that the lions were unwilling to trade him, I wouldnt want to play for a losing team my entire career ethier anyways back on topic, |

To not have a guy in the top ten because he didn't feel the orgainzation was committed to winning a team and wouldn't trade him is ridiculous. On the field, for a great number of seasons, he was the best. It's not like he was gale sayers who was one of the best but only did it for a four seasons. Barry had sustained greatness.

4. Barry Sanders -- I gave the reason why I rated Emmit higher, so I won't repeat. The one knock I had against Barry was that he was sometimes unwilling to realize a play was dead, and he'd backtrack 8 yards rather than just take the -1 yard loss. Of course, now and then he'd bust those open for 60+ yard gainers, but more often than not, he'd get pulled down behind the line after scrambling around for 15 seconds. |

So thats the best theory you could come up with. Please do not argue me. You cannot win this debate. Oh yes...That thing you call "anus"...That is where cosmology goes...Just my opinion. |
