quick stat: 1996 Packers are the only team since the undefeated 72 phins to be ranked #1 overall in both total offense and total defense.
that team was just dominant, we'd blow people out week after week. The 2 game losing streak we had midseason was due almost solely to the fact that robert brooks, antonio freeman, mark chumura, and don beebe were all injured at once. |

I think the 96 Packers were the best team of the two,but only because the Eagles havent won the Super Bowl Yet.As for the best team since the 72 Dolphins I would have to say based on a 1 yr anylasists that would have to be the 1985 Bears, they went 15 and 1 and stomped the NE Patriots 46-10 in the SB. |

the 96 Packers would have beaten the 85 Bears IMO the Ds where about equal but the Packers offense was by far better. We allowed 10 points in 3 playoff games...Y'all gave up more than that to Drew Bledsoe. The D's were not "equal." I don't know whether we would win...but I know for sure you're wrong regarding the D.

I don't know whether we would win...but I know for sure you're wrong regarding the D. 1. 1985 Chicago Bears (15-1) It is a close battle for the title of Most Dominant Playoff Run. But while the 1989 49ers won their playoff games by larger margins, nobody has ever marched through the postseason like the 1985 Chicago Bears. No team had ever shut out consecutive playoff opponents until the Bears shut out the 10-6 Giants 21-0 and 11-5 Rams 24-0. The scoreless streak ended in the first two minutes of Super Bowl XX when a fumble led to a field goal for the 11-5 Patriots, but Chicago then scored 44 straight points and won 46-10. At halftime, they had gained 236 yards and the Patriots had minus 19. Over three games, the Bears outscored their opponents 91-10 and outgained them 1003 yards to 434 -- a reason many call them the greatest team ever. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...tz/list/050131 |
