If we wanted to really go off on a tangent, let's ask how many TD's Johnny U, or Bart Starr, or Fran T, or guys like that would have thrown with the rules of today. Back then, a CB or Safety could mug a receiver all the way down the field. Offensive linemen were not allowed to use their hands at ALL to block. So on and so forth. Almost every rule change has been designed in order to create more offense. It's staggering to think what kind of numbers some old hall of famers would put up in the league nowadays, compared to what they actually did.

besides his talented receiving corp he also has this years league enforcing the no contact after 5 yards rule due to him bitching last year about it to thank for all his td's this year. dont get me wrong his an excellent qb but he is getting alittle help from the league this year. I could see it if the rule didn't exist before Manning played a game in the league, but in this case, Manning is just thriving in the system the NFL was supposed to have had in place... |

You call the league actually enforcing it's own rules helping Manning? I do know that Payton is on a whole nother level this year, and the rules havent helped 31 other starting QBS to throw for 50+ Tds this season. |

I'm not saying I"m complaining, I'm just saying that's the way it is. Offensive records are going to start to lose meaning the more and more the NFL becomes like Arena Football. We had a 58-48 game not too long ago, between 2 pretty mediocre teams. Most people are ok with that, so the NFL is giving them what they want, which is fine. That's what businesses do. Just look for the gap between offenses and defenses to get bigger and bigger. |

no offense= boring game= low attendance= no money. the league is making moves to keep the nfl machine going. smart business is what it comes down to even if its at the cost of the defenses working with one hand behind their backs. |
