Default Book Review: Andre Dubus III - House Of Sand And Fog
I have always been a big reader. I usually read two or three books a week or I did until I found the 80sxchange. I hope we can start sharing reviews and commentaries on some of the books we read. This will be a good way to learn about books that you have not read.

This book has been talked about for the past couple of years. It was written in 1999 and is now available as a paperback. When I first read it back in 2000, I was amazed. The story is interesting and the book is very well written.

The story of the book is told from three different people's perspective. We follow a house owner Kathy, a Persian immigrant Behrani and a Deputy Sheriff.

Kathy is unjustly evicted from her house because she has not paid taxes that the state claims she owe. The Deputy Sheriff is forced to evict Kathy and her house goes up for sale. The house is bought by the Persian immigrant Behrani from the Sheriff's sale.

Kathy gets involved with the Deputy Sheriff and they try to get the house back from the fighting immigrant who refuses to let go of the house.

This starts a very dark and frightening story about the dark sides of human behavior. We are following the three main characters thought processes and that is very thought-provoking through out the whole book.

It is a very hard book to put down. The author knows how to tell a good story and he is very insightful when it comes to human nature. I enjoyed this book very much. I have read it twice already and I am sure I will pick it up again.
