not saying its not good, but a lot of your work looks cold, lifeless/uninspired and very generic

It has a lot to do with the white balance on the photos I think.

Take the car pic for example - here is the result after I did a quick balancing of the colours/levels in Photoshop. Much better

I think it was better before. White balance doesn't always have to be accurate...screwy white-balances can be used for great artistic expression and effect.

That car photo becomes boring and pedestrian if you "fix" the white balance.

Yes the greenish tint is suppose to establish the location of the Z (in a forested area). but now that i look at it, maybe a blending between chrisinthesun20's and the original might be the best.

No way, man. Leave it alone. It kinda reminds me of the Matrix.[thumbup]

[thumbup] Learn Blender. Although i've never played with anything other than Blender, i feel that no 3d application can beat this open source goodness. The entire Blender package is 6mb in size and performs far more functions that maya or 3dsmax. It not only does modeling animation and rendering, but also compositing, post production and even has its own OpenGL game engine with a physics engine that isn't much worse than Havok or Ageia.

But then, the 'industry standard' is still maya and 3dmax, so maybe learning that is better?

[edit]: For people who havn't heard, Elephants Dream is a short movie completely made in Blender and is considered to be a milestone in the graphics/movie-making/opensource arena.

also, actually this picture of Vancouver reminds me of the the Matrix (of course post processed)

To me, that green tint screamed "I screwed up the white-balance" - as opposed to standing out as a deliberate artistic effect.

For the record, my adjustment was not actually a complete WB levelling - that looked to clinical - mine was a kind of halfway between the two.
