Default Indian Navy Andaman and Nicobar Command to build floating dock at Port Blair
Indian Navy Andaman and Nicobar Command will build a build floating dock at Port Blair says Chief of Staff of the command Rear Admiral Sudhir Pillai.
The dock will cater to the maintenance needs of Naval and Coast Guard vessels being operated by the command. The command has already finalized the technical specifications of the proposed dock and it would be commissioned during the current plan period.

The dock will be capable of handling three medium ships at a time and all the controls in the dock would be fully modernized to improve the safety measures.

Existing lone floating dock when it was commissioned in 1987. There is another smaller floating dock at Goa, the dock at Port Blair was unique in its capablities and strategic location.
