DCNS & Pipavav have offered to build a LPD (Landing Platform Deck), with capacity to have 1,400 personnel.

Weighing 21,000 tonnes, the LPD can transport a battalion and house NH-90 helicopters. The offer to Indian Navy is for 3 such ships.

Russia has signed for two similar ships.
