Default Brief about Admiral Nirmal Verma
Ex- Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nirmal Kumar Verma (born November 14, 1951) is a communications specialist. He was the first commissioning EW officer on INS Rajput, first Kashin II Class Guided Missile Destroyer and commissioned into the Indian Navy at Poti (erstwhile USSR), in 1981 where he stood by the ship at Poti. The Kashins were the first big powerful front line modern ships with P-20 missiles, ASW RBU-2000, rockets, powerful radars and two long range Volna AA systems and powerful gas turbines. He is an alumini of RN Staff College and US Naval War College.

He became the CNS on office on August 31, 2009. He was incharge of the Naval Academy in Goa, Captained a lot of ships including INS Ranvir (D54) and INS Viraat, India's only aircraft carrier. He became Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C) of the Eastern Naval Command. He is a receipient of several decorations, including the Param Vishisht Seva Medal and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal.
