Default Air Marshal A K Gogoi to visit to Lohegaon airbase
Air Marshal A K Gogoi, AOC-in-C, HQ South Western Air Command, will be arriving on a three-day visit to Air Force Station, Lohegaon on Wednesday. He will be accompanied by Leena Gogoi, President, AFWWA (R) HQ South Western Air Command (SWAC). Air Marshal Gogoi, a graduate of National Defence Academy, was commissioned into the fighter stream of IAF in 1973.


During his visit, the AOC-in-C will interact with the officers and personnel of the station and inspect various units/ sections of the base for its operational preparedness. He will also review the ceremonial parade by the air warriors of the station and carry out a sortie in the SU-30 MK-I. He will also interact with the veterans of the city and update them on the status of SWAC and IAF.

Gogoi is a qualified Flying Instructor, a fighter combat leader and a graduate of Defense Service Staff College, Wellington, with over 3,000 hours of flying experience on various aircraft. He has held a variety of operational and staff appointments during his career, including command of a frontline fighter squadron and two premier airbases. His staff appointments include Command Air Defence Officer at Eastern Air Command, Joint Director Operations (Offensive) and Principal Director Operations (Offensive) at Air Headquarters. Air Marshal Gogoi has also undergone the Air Combat Simulator Instructors Course in the UK, the Higher Command Course at Army War College, Mhow and NDC (Executive National Security Program) in South Africa.
