Russia and India to start joint military exercises: Voice of Russia

Above 500 servicemen and 50 units of military equipment will be engaged in Russian-Indian “Indra-2012” antiterrorist training scheduled this August on the firing ground of the Eastern Command in Buryatia, as reported by the head of the Eastern Command press service, Lt. Col. Aleksandr Gordeev.

“About 500 soldiers of the Eastern Command and the Indian Armed Forces, as well as 50 units of military equipment will take part in maneuvers that will be held in four stages. Indian servicemen will have to carry out operations using Russian military vehicles”, - Gordeev added.

According to him, during the first two stages servicemen of both countries will participate in a combined joint task force for collective training. The active phase of maneuvers will take place in the third and forth stages, when Russian and Indian soldiers will have to counteract organized terrorist groups.

Preparation for the training is in full swing and the firing ground is now being technically equipped, according to Gordeev.
