Polish Minister of Defence says that his country will replace the aging Sukhoi SU-22 strike aircraft's with Unmanned Combat Ariel vehicle (UCAV) by 2018. 30 UCAVs will form three squadrons. Su-22's entered Polish Air Force in 1970's.
Must be General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper (Predator B). Which other UAV has UCAV capability? |

As per estimate Poland has 38-48 Su-22 aircraaft of M3K and M4K versions at 21st Tactical Airbase in Swidwin, located in the north-west of the country in Western Pomerania. They wanted to refurbish 32 of them. "We decided that further modernization of Su-22 is meaningless. They just morally and physically obsolete" - said the Minister of Defence of Poland Tomasz Simonyak.
Eventually, Poland is looking at 125 - 205 UAV's in 2018. |
