The UK Ministry of Defence has stopped its hunt for aliens and has axed a department which spent 50 years investigating reports of UFO sightings. The money stared country said the alien threat is nil and tracking it is a waste of time and money.

Closing the UFO hotline in 2009, the MoD had said that no UFO report has revealed any evidence of a potential threat to the United Kingdom. MoD had also admitted that it has no specific capability for identifying the nature of such sightings. It had also announced transfer of UFO and Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) files held by OAS and OIS to the National Archives progressively over the next three years.

The decision to review UFO related activity was taken in 1996.
