Default Iran Overhauls Mig-29 Fighter Jets
A Mig-29 fighter jet of the Iranian Army conducted its test flight successfully on Saturday after being overhauled by local experts, says FNA. The aircraft was not operational for 12 years anf flew after it was overhauled at Shaheed Fakouri air base in Iran's Northwestern city of Tabriz. The ovehauls too 21,000 man/hour of work.

The 24 month overhaul also saw addition of three types of modern electronic systems onto the aircraft.

A senior Iranian Air Force commander had announced last year that the country had succeeded in overhauling its strategic Mig-29 fighter jets inside the country.

"For the first time in the country, we received the permission for overhauling two Mig-29 fighter jets in Tabriz (air base) and the five-stage overhauling procedures were carried out in two phases in Tabriz," Commander of Tabriz Air Base Mohammad Hellatabadi said in a ceremony in Iran's Northwestern city of Tabriz in February 2011.
