Default Vinayagar chathurthi on puratasi month
Why dont we celebrate this year vinayaga chathurthi in aavani month.

As the 1st day of aavani is ammavasai and the*fore-coming*valarpirai chathurthi thidhi. But this year its*celebrated*in puratasi month. is there is any reason behind this.... to leave the aavani month valarpirai chathurthi thidhi and celebrating next thidhi.

Reasons are there. The sukla patcha chathurthy thithi must be there from morning to night for performing vinayagar chathurthy. But see this year in aavani 6th chathurthy ends in3 or 4 p.m. and panchami comes . this is called thithi dwayam. so in puratasi the chathurtyhy thithi is there from morning till mid night. so we have to do vinayagar chathuthy in puratasi month.

Why is there a belief that if one sees the moon on the Chaturthi of Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha one gets blamed for stealing?

In the VINAYAKA PURANAM first kaandam 50 th chapter page no 224 written by aru. Ramanathan and published by prema prasuram, 59, arcot road, kodambakkam chennai 24.in 15 th edition in july 2010. a story about this is there. www.premapirasuram.com. available in giri trading agency in Tamil language.

Naradar came to lord shiva with one fruit. he placed before lord shiva and played veena. Lord shiva asked brahma who was also there at that time to whom i should give this fruit. Brahma replied togive this to subramaniar. Immediately vinayaka got angry. Brahma fell at the feet of vinayaka. requeting for excuse if there is any wrong in it. CHANDRAN was also there and laughed on Brahma's position there.

LOrd Vinayaka gave a curse to Chandran for having laughed. Indra and other devas requested vinayaka to show mercy on chandran and Vinayaka said who ever sees moon on aavani sukla chathurthy will have to suffer a lot. so people are having belief in it after going through the story of lord krishna after seeing the moon on chathurthy.
