This week's Podcast is about "Arulmigu Apathsahayeswarar Alayam,Alangudi. Thirugnanasambandar has sung in praise of the Lord here and is the 98th temple among the 127 temples located on the southern bank of Cauvery. It is one among the 274 "Padal Petra Sthalams" in Chola Nadu.

Sri Abathsagayeswara Swamy Temple, the sthalam of Guru Bagavan is Alangudi, It is located in Thanjavur district of Tamilnadu, India. Alangudi is 17 kms away from Kumbakonam enroute to Mannargudi.

There are as many as 15 theerthams in this temple which occupies an area of about 1.25 acres, surrounded by lofty walls. One of the theerthams is a well located inside the temple and it is referred to as the Jnana koopam.

Ways and Methods of Worshipping

Those who have obtained 14 generations blessings only could come to this temple. First, as usual , the lord vinayaga (Klanagamar Katha Vinayagar) is to be worshipped. Then Thuvaja Ganapathy - who is there in the flag-mast

(Thuvaja Ganapathy) lord; Abadhsagayeshwarar and Guru Dakshinamoorthy have to be worshipped in this order. After that, Somaskandar, Murugan,Mahalakshmi, Durga, Chandikeshwara, Navagrhas, Urchavar Gurumoorthy whom are in the prakarams (precincts) have to be worshipped. Then lord Sani (Saturn) and goddess Elavarguzhali Ammai have to be worshipped. Then Sashtanka namaskaram (Prostrating) before the flag mast is to be done. Then to propitiate Guru Bhagavan, 24 ghee lights (Nei vizhakku) have to be lit in the place earmarked for it and three rounds have to be made around the SanctumSanctorum (in the prakaras) and during each and every round, prostration has to be done and the propitiation has thus to be completed.

Temple is open from 6 A.M. to 12.00 P.M. and 4 P.M. to 9 P.M.
