Mr. Sri-Prakasa,... the Ex Governor of Tamilnadu... was a renowned as Mr Clean- Gentleman to the core... coupled with Dynamic outlook ... and Competence.
On his retirement as Governor, Mr. Nehru, the then Prime-Minister of India, did not want to lose his exemplary competence.... and so offered him the Top-most post as Chairman of the All India-Anti-Corruption-Board, which he refused to accept. He said.... being the Chairman of Anti-Corruption... I must behave true to my Conscience... and I should not be a party for Corruption... Yes I agree and can promise too... from the core of my Heart... that I will not take any Bribe directly or indirectly... norbe a Cause for its generation or escalation in any manner. ... But I cannot assure nor Promise... that I will not give Bribe .. nor be a party to get jobs done out of corrupt Govt. officials. If I commit so... I will not be able to survive in India... That was the status... in 1955... Is India better Now?... Politicians? Beaurocrats?... Govt. Officers? |
