There are a couple of audios for movies that haven't been released this year that I've played consistently throughout the year i.e Pesu, Mambattiyan, Sevarkodi, Thandavkone (Is the movie released??), 3/Moondru etc. But I'll leave these for Best Songs of 2012 thread.

I know AadukaLam will win hands down, but when it comes to whole soundtrack including BGM, it is ASK for me, unbeatable!, if it is just for songs, it is Ponnar Shankar (I have not seen the movie to appreciate the BGM). Overall this year has been great for music, with new directors giving fresh music and most listeners are enjoying music from village subjects which is a very welcome sign.

Out of the NOV's strong contenders, hands down for me it's 180, listen to this on headphones and feel the value of sound. The production here is flawless, along with VSV this is the best produced album in terms of sound engineering this year. Though on basis of songs, I personally feel Ayyayo will beat any of the 180 songs in the test of time because of it's simplicity and ethnic exuberance. Therefore, best album - 180 & best song - Ayyayo

But regardless if a movie has been released this or not, the most heard albums in my playlist this year are DHILIP VARMAN'S TFM DEBUT UYIRAI THOLATHEN, hear the album - http://www.thiraipaadal.com/album.ph...VA0001&lang=en KANGALIL KADHAL, POTHUM POTHUM, SOLLAMALEY - SOME OF THE MOST DIVINEST & MOST EMOTIONAL SONGS I'VE HEARD IN AGES. (Dhilip reminds me of the Rahman ji from the yore ) and THANDAVKONE, still having difficulty to decide my fav song from this album. All other Thamizh albums this year by Raaja saab pale in front of this, arguably his finest work over the recent years.
