At least one of the VM songs was a note-for-note remake from prEmAbhishEkam (original of VM) - 'mazhaikkAla mEgham ondRu maNi oonjal Adiyadhu'. That should speak about GA's standards

Although it is to difficult to accept GA as a talented musician, I think he did give few good #s. Right away I could think of few - "chinna thambi periya thambi" - Mazhaiyin thuliyil...., oru kathal enbathu....

Probably he shouldn't have tried to be 'trendy'. Same goes with IR - usage of synth sounds.

Even when IR changes uses synth sounds, you can hear his unique stamp in his orchestration. IR is probably one of the few composers who could use any sort of instruments yet still make it sound amazingly like his own. Gangai Amaran has tried to change his style completely.
