Default The real agenda of Pinky's tea with bloggers and netizens
To get bloggers and netizens to endorse Govt's stance.

"Participants told The Straits Times that PM Lee had asked them about their opinions on online anonymity, where most said they felt online commenters should not be anonymous."

SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong invited 19 bloggers and fans of his Facebook page and Twitter stream for tea at the Istana on Thursday.
He met them for about an hour to chat about issues ranging from education to social media, The Straits Times reported.
Also present were Minister of State for National Development Tan Chuan-Jin and MPs Zaqy Mohamad and Low Yen Ling.
Among the netizens invited were YouTube child stars Dr JiaJia and Bigbro, whose real names are Chua Jin Sen, 6, and Chuan Jin Chou, 12, and their parents.
Popular blogger Lee Kin Mun, better known as "mr brown", was also among those invited.
PM Lee posted pictures from the tea on his Facebook page hours later, and said they talked about many issues, from Twitter and Reddit, to online behaviour and Singapore's declining birth-rate.
In his post, he thanked netizens for their feedback on Facebook and added that he looked forward to meeting more of them in the future.
Participants told The Straits Times that PM Lee had asked them about their opinions on online anonymity, where most said they felt online commenters should not be anonymous.

Yes,I agree with you that is the primary objective of PM Lee,he faces too much alternative views in the cyber space, with such a meeting, coupled with the power of MSM ,is a very effective weapon.Good strategy.
If he cannot achieve his primary objective would probably be quite happy if he can achieve 2nd,4th or 10th objectives.
Time well spent for PM Lee & his faithful workers.
Famous bloggers be prepared for more teas/lunches with ministers.

Mr lee must be sleepless n having nightmares after reading forums in internet.
To appease oneself, he need 2nd/3rd parties opinions. He is beginning not to
trust his selected Rally vociferous applauding audience........we certainly hope so.

I hope during the Tea party, those bloggers don't talk cock with Pinky just for the sake of talking cock..

The invited bloggers should tell the PM about the real sentiments on the ground.. Don't tell him all those fairytale happy ending stories just to make him feel good..

Things are not that rosy in Sinkie Land at this moment of time.. The PM for the 60% should know that..

After collecting responses from the intelligentsia over 4 continents compromising locals and others, congrats, the unfortunate verdict is there is nothing to talk about anymore.

How many bloggers? And how many fans from his Facebook page? All for one press release.

Nothing wrong with such an agenda. It's what political leaders around the world do.

Pinky is just doing it for show lah. He is not serious about alternative views and pays no heed to them. Why should he be serious? Its no different to him saying 'sorry' and continuing doing wrong to Singaporeans. I will not bother about what Pinky does etc as he does what he wants and those things he does to 'show' singaporeans he cares is nothing more than shit for show......which is nothing more than bull shit.

I just read the report on his meeting with PM Lee by Andrew Loh.
http://www.tremeritus.com/2012/09/01...at-the-istana/

Frankly I am disappointed,I feel that PM Lee had not seized the golden opportunity to get a group of fairly responsible bloggers to try to inform the blogging community about his sincerity to want to have a serious National Conversation with the new media community so the whole nation can really engage in a serious discussion this time.

But from that report,it is obvious that PM Lee's main objective was to convince the very responsible bloggers handed picked by PAP that the comments in the new media must follow the style of the MSM,put your IC,name, address, etc
I am sure PM Lee does not want a National Conversation like the MSM forums, letters to editors.

This meeting would be no different from Bloggers meeting with Tony Tan-PAP candidate for President or some other fact finding meetings by other Ministers, which I am sure would not satisfy the PAP.

This JiaJia thing is being over-played ad nauseam. It's becoming boring and irritating. Are Singaporeans really enthused? They shld feel insulted.

This is to add the "cute" factor. Supposed to endear to the masses - the matronly factor.

Miss loong no longer have a vision for the future of Singapore.
He hoped by mingling with bloggers and netizen he could harness a vision from the ground.

if anonymous postings seem to get on his nerves.. then the agenda might be to deny anonymous postings on the web.
Maybe they want to KNOW who it is who are posting negative views on the govt, policies.. or maybe they wan to begin a witch-hunt.. to stop their so-called xenophobia??
