In 2011 election the total numbers of voters was approx 2,400,000
PAP – 60% = 1,440,000 voters Opp – 40% = 960,000 voters MIW calculated 20% (the worst scenario) PAP voters will switch to opposition in 2016 That leaves PAP with 1,152,000 and opposition 1,248,000 voters. PAP will lose. Lee Hsien Loong says he needs to import 25,000 new citizens per year x 5 years = 125000 new voters + 1,152,000 = 1,277,000 against 1,248,000 oppositions PAP 50.6% Opp 49.4% The question is what can stop them from increasing the 25k? This could well be the Weapon of Absolute Power Can WP tables a constitutional change preventing new citizens’ rights to vote for 1st 5 years? Or at least cap the influx? Law society is told not to get involve with politics and all religious bodies were told not to preach them. That leaves you and me What do you think? |
