A Bankrupt scientist needs financial help for his research. Are there generous people in Chennai? In the absence of more specific information, like who he is, where he is working, what is his institutional affiliation, etc, what is there to tell an onlooker that he is not an alcohol addict, that he has not struck up a clever way of getting some money to help with the next bottle? What is the source of this information (picture)? Looks like a picture that you took during your sojourn in Chennai? |

It is not yet April 1, is it? What do you mean by a bankrupt scientist? No! It is not yet April 1st. One who involves in any kind of research can only be some kind of scientist. I don’t know who he is. He is affiliated to the institution called the Street. That’s his place of employment. He is self employed. Jokes Aside: NO! I did not take this picture during my visit to Chennai. I don’t think he looks like a Chennai beggar. Looking at his dress and the pavement in front of him, there nothing that looks like its any where in Tamil Nadu leave alone Chennai. You are right about the impression he would make to an onlooker. He is an alcoholic. He may be out of employment because of his addiction. But he makes no secret of his addiction. A very honest beggar? My niece in New Orleans sent this picture. I have written to her requesting the source. I will post it here when I have it. In the meanwhile to calm down your worry I found a different link to the super cool beggars of the United States of America. I don’t think there is any reference to who they are or from where they are.
