It seems fires quite frequently break out across Bangkok. Quite often they are slum fires that raze makeshift homes made of wood and tin sheets.

In just the past two years at least four or five have broken out just along Rama IV Road, where I live. I remember one in the Penang Market close to Klong Toei Market, another in a shanty town across the road from there, one at the Mandarin Hotel, and another in a cargo yard.
Are the above places all slum sites in BKK?

The latest broke out at about 6.40pm yesterday (Tues 24 Feb), which looked like it was near the same cargo yard. It blazed for an hour until firefighters managed to douse it. The photos were taken from my neighbour's balcony. The building directly behind the fire (maybe 300 metres away) is Bangkok University.

Thanks, I'm thinking of moving closer to the river.
