Default Pouring water over elder's hands
During songkran it is a custom to pour water over elder's hands. I did that once and said "sawatdeebiimai" thinking I was wishing them well. Now I learned that it is the elders blessing the younger ones and we are not expected or supposed to say anything. I find this a bit confusing. Is this similar to pouring water over a Buddha statue and receiving a blessing?
