Once upon a time I had the same misguided idea to send my future wife an ATM card. I asked my bank about it and they got into quite a snit about the idea. Can;t remember if the word fraud was used.

Well DAMN, I don't want the poor girl to end up in Thai prison, and 5TASH might turn her in! She's already got a bank account, with an ATM card in her name. I'll just make quarterly deposits so the transfer fees will be managable. If she starts talking to much I'll stop contributing to English lessons. Problem solved.

I'm not into sending money, Unless it is towards an education for her to attend English classes.

BINGO! That is EXACTLY why I am helping...and she's doing quite well. Her English is certainly much better than my thai (is that a cocktail?)
