Raumkatanyuu foundation is a community service based organisation which carries out all kinds of services to people in distress, Road accident clearance, assisting at fires, rescuing people who are in danger from floods etc etc and along with their main competitors, the larger "Por Teck Teung" foundation they are known as the "Body Snatchers of Bangkok" as collecting dead bodies from accident scenes, suicides etc and transporting them to hospitals/morgues is one of their main sources of income, and the two groups compete fiercely for the "business"
Are they competing for income or merit?

Thanks guys.

Here in the Antipodes we are quite dependent on a TV programme called "Foreign Correspondent" (ABC) for slightly more in-depth coverage of world affairs. It ran a piece on the Body Snatchers a couple of years back, claiming that they did it for merit rather than income. That was at one with the Australian stereotype of Thai people, that spiritual things come first, having fun comes second and money and possessions don't really matter to them.

In Khrung Thep/Bangkok, on Rama IV Road(Thanon Phra Ram IV)at the corner of Thanon Si Phraya/Si Phraya Road ,which is near Thanon Silom/Silom Road ,there is a booth similar to a large police booth.
One night at about maybe 7 or 8 pm there was a car with a circular printed badge on the door and maybe the words 'Ruankatanyu Foundation' on the badge, and the car was parked next to the booth.

A Farang was the driver and he was wearing a uniform with a white shirt and maybe a shoulder badge and shoulder stripes, similar to a soldier. He may have entered the booth.
What is his occupation or reason for being there?
Is he a type of bilingual informal policeman to assist tourists in trouble ?
Is he there to help people in a traffic accident?
Is he a volunteer?

What is the Ruankatanyu Foundation?

They claimed they are "volunteers" if you ask. And they are doing it for "merits". However, there are incidents where they shoot (with guns) each other for over-lapping territories. So you judge for yourself whether are they competing for "income" or "merit".

I think some morgues will pay these people to bring bodies to them.

Income I think billk. This in the Nation a couple of weeks ago.

Rescue workers rumble

Four Poh Teck Tung Foundation workers were injured after Siam Ruamjai rescue workers reportedly opened fire on them on Wednesday night at a gas station on Ekkachai Road in Bangkok's Bang Bon district, police said yesterday.

The Foundation's Prapan Lomchan, 33, sustained an eye wound; Apirak Rakjaeng was shot in the stomach; Anek Saetho, 39, had gun wounds to the neck and leg; and Jeerasak Feungsanthia a knife wound in his arm.

Nattapong Suwannarat claimed that a Siam Ruamjai supervisor gave his men the order to "get them all."

Nattapong said the two groups had agreed on separate territories to assist accident victims, but Siam Ruamjai had begun stealing the Foundation's jobs.

Pol Maj Gen Sakkachat Kittikajorn said that after dealing with the attack, police would call in rescue foundation chiefs for talks.

The trouble follows an incident between the same groups on September 27, near Soi Ramkhamhaeng 60 in Bang Kapi district, which left two injured and five trucks damaged. * and Por Teck Tung's involvement in the OP and Siam Ruamjai's and Por Teck Tung's involvement in the related links in Post # 2 *

There was a similar incident between Ruamkatanyuu and Siam RuamJai a few weeks back.
